Preparing students for everlasting life...
As a Catholic school, spiritual formation is the cornerstone of our school. The first line of our Mission Statement says, “We are the SJE Family with Jesus at the center of all we do…” This is a phrase we truly take to heart at SJE. Below are just some of the many ways that we develop each student’s spiritual development:

Daily Faith Instruction
- Religion class at all grade levels
- Covering a wide range of Catholic content knowledge and spiritual exercises, based upon the Anchor Standards from NCEA
- Taught by teachers with additional catechetical certification and ongoing formation

Regular Sacramental Access
- Weekly all school Mass
- Weekly opportunity for Adoration
- Reconciliation offered regularly throughout the year

Unique Student Opportunities for Spiritual Development
- Annual Multicultural Rosary, Mass & Festival
- Living Rosary
- Live 8th Grade Stations of the Cross/Easter Prayer Service
- Mary’s Way of the Cross and Simple Soup Supper
- Class Retreats with focuses on leadership, positive classroom culture, and purpose

Family Faith Formation Support
- Invitation for families to join weekly Mass and periodic prayer services
- Access to Catholic meditation app for all families
- Packets and resources for families to make the most out of liturgical seasons and Church holidays
A Note for Non-Catholic Families:
While SJE is clearly and unapologetically a Catholic institution, we work to ensure that students of all backgrounds are welcomed and made to feel at home in our community. All students participate in Catholic Mass (worship), religion class, and prayer services. Over 25% of our students are non-Catholic and many of our faculty/staff are non-Catholic. We ask that all members of our community are respectful of the Catholic Church, willing to learn about Church teaching, and open to dialogue with people of other backgrounds.
If you have more specific questions about spiritual formation in our school, please reach out to our Admissions Director.
